If you’re considering purchasing the 2019 Honda CR-V, you’re sure to be curious about a lot of things, including its features, dimensions and costs, among other elements.
Before emptying your wallet on this award-winning SUV, Goderich Honda offers you the following tips to give you full knowledge of what to expect with this latest edition. Here are your 2019 Honda CR-V questions answered.
Are All Honda CR-Vs Four-Wheel Drive?
Not all of them are. As a matter of fact, a lot of Honda CR-V models tend to use all-wheel drive, considering that it is usually optimized for more severe, off-road driving conditions. All-wheel drive offers maximum forward traction during acceleration, helping you better handle sloppy, inconvenient road conditions.
Current and former Honda CR-V models use real-time all-wheel drive, using a multi-plate clutch system to determine how you approach driving conditions. This allows you to use front-wheel drive when conditions are safe before switching to all-wheel drive when conditions become tricky.
Can a Honda CR-V Tow a Trailer?
Yes, it can. One of the 2019 Honda CR-V’s most notable traits is a towing capacity of 680 kg (1,500 lbs), rendering it suitable to tow lightweight trailers. You’ll find more information about this in the Honda CR-V owner’s manual.
In order to tow a trailer with your 2019 Honda CR-V, you will need a trailer hitch, a wiring harness, a ball mount and a hitch-ball combo. You’ll need to watch the trailer weight, which includes the trailer size, the cargo and everything in or on it. If you exceed that 1,500-lb mark, you risk impeding your handling of the vehicle as well as its performance.
Where Are Honda CR-Vs Made?
Honda CR-Vs and other Honda vehicles are made at Honda Canada’s manufacturing hub, the Honda of Canadian Manufacturing (HCM) plant in Alliston, Ontario. HCM features three manufacturing facilities, with Plant 2 being devoted to making CR-V models since 2012.
Plant 2 officially opened in 1998, making models for the Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot and Ridgeline before focusing on the CR-V. Honda Canada’s Engine Plant produces four-cylinder engines for each of its CR-V models, and each is made with aluminum sources from recycling materials. Though they are not entirely tested, designed, or marketed in Canada, they are manufactured here.
Is the Honda CR-V a 7-Seater Car?
Yes, but not in Canada. Honda has introduced 7-seater variants of the CR-V, including the 2019 edition, but in different countries. For example, in Australia, Honda introduced an entry-level seven-seat variant of the VTI-E7 this year.
In Canada, the Honda CR-V has five seats for each of its 2019 models, including the LX-2WD, LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring models. As of yet, there is no 7-seater version of the 2019 Honda CR-V nor is there an indication of such a version coming for future models of the SUV brand.
How Long is a Honda CR-V?
Each Honda CR-V model is 4,586 mm long. With mirrors, the width is 2,065 mm compared to 1,849 mm without for some brands, while others are 2,107 mm.
Due to its length, the Honda CR-V is equipped with more cubic feet behind the front seats, allowing for more cargo and legroom for passengers as well.
